Method 1: Close And Re-open Outlook App On Android

The first and simple method that you should try when you are unable to login to Outlook is simply closing the Outlook app and then re-open it again.

To do this, simply open the app switcher and from there close the Outlook app. After this, back to Home screen and then open the Outlook app again. Now, try to log in to it.

Method 2: Update Outlook App

Sometimes when you don’t update the Outlook app then you face many issues with the app. One of the issues among them is the login problem to the Outlook app. So, to fix it you need to update the Outlook app.

Here, follow the steps to update Outlook app on Android.

Step 1: On your Android phone, launch the Google Play Store app.

Step 2: Then click on your profile icon at the top right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Now, you need to go to Update section to check the update for Outlook app.

So, ensure that the network connection is not poor by opening anything on the web browser. If it does not show the result then it means that there is some problem with your internet connection and you need to fix it.

Method 4: Reset Account

Step 1: Run the Outlook app on your Android phone.

Step 2: Then hit on profile icon in the top left corner of the screen to open the sidebar menu.

Step 3: From there hit on gear icon (settings icon) in the bottom left corner of the screen to open Settings.

Method 5: Uninstall And Reinstall Outlook App

If resetting the account didn’t solve the login problem then you can uninstall Outlook app and reinstall it again.

You can uninstall the Outlook app by going to Settings > Apps. Select Outlook app from the app’s list and open the app details. After this, hit on Uninstall option.

Once the app gets uninstalled, open Google Play Store on your phone. Then type the name of the app in the search box. After this, tap on Install button to reinstall the Outlook app.

Method 6: Delete Email Account And Re-add It

Another troubleshooting way to fix login errors on the Outlook app is by signing out of all your email accounts and then sign in back.

Here, follow the steps to do the same.

Step 1: On your phone, open the Outlook app and then go to its settings (if you are able to go).

Step 2: After this, tap on your email account under Mail accounts and select the Delete account option at the bottom.

Step 3: At last, tap on “Delete from this device” and then hit on Delete to confirm the action.

Method 7: Try This Trick

You can simply follow the below steps to fix the login issue on Outlook app on Android.

Step 1: Uninstall Outlook app, MS Excel, and MS Word app from your phone.

Step 2: Now use Chrome browser to log in to your Outlook account on your phone.

Step 3: It will ask you if you want to add Outlook to your phone’s Home screen.

Step 4: Tap on yes and it will install the app and it will work properly.

Method 8: Contact Microsoft Customer Support

If the above methods didn’t do the job then you can contact Microsoft customer support team for further assistance.

Problem 1: A user-run Email, tap in Other option and tries to log in to his/her Outlook account, but he/she gets a pop-up message saying “Your username or password may be incorrect, or IMAP/POP3/SMTP services are not enabled.”

Cause: When any user login to an Outlook account then he/she needs to use the Exchange protocol.

Solution: User can use the Exchange option to log in to their account again.

Problem 2: A user launches the Email, hit the Exchange option and he/she tries to log in to his/her Outlook account, but a pop-up message appears saying “Your username or password may be incorrect.”

Cause: If any user has turned on the two-step verification feature on his/her Outlook web mailbox.

Solution: Turn off the two-step verification feature and then try again.

Here, follow the steps to do the same.

Step 1: On any web browser on your Android device, visit https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage, enter your email address and tap Next.

Step 2: Enter the password.

Step 3: Verify your identity using the details that you have given when you registered your email. (It will use verification using your number as an example).

Step 4: Now, enter the last 4 digits of your phone number and the verification code.

Step 5: Once it is successfully verified, choose No, thanks.

Step 6: Next, go to Two-step verification and choose to Turn off two-step verification.

Step 7: When you see the dialog box then tap Yes.

Step 8: In the following screen, you will find two-step verification turned off.

Extra Tip: Set Up Email In The Outlook App On Android

Set Up Outlook For Android For The First Time

Here are the steps to do so:

Note: If you have a work account that needs Intune Company Portal app then before you set up Outlook for Android, install it from Google Play Store. Your IT admin may not or may also need you to Enroll your Android device in Intune.

Step 1: Install the Outlook for Android app from Google Play Store and launch it.

Step 2: Then hit on Get Started (if you use it first time).

Step 3: If not, then to add another email account, go to 3 horizontal line or Menu > Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account. Then go to Step 1 under Set up another email account.

Step 3: Outlook may show your Google accounts. To add them to Outlook, hit Google Connect Account and then tap on Ok to confirm it. Touch Allow to give Outlook access to your Contacts.

If you don’t wish to add these accounts, then hit on Skip and then go to Step 1 under set up another email account.

Step 4: Choose your accounts that you want to add and hit on Add Account. Now, you may be asked to sign in.

Step 5: Hit on Allow to confirm offline access and any other messages.

Step 6: To add another email account, tap Continue and then follow Step 1 under set up another email account. If not, then tap Skip.

Now, we will go to the steps to set up another email account.

Setting Up Another Outlook Email Account

Step 1: Type your email address and then hit on Continue.

Note: If you are prompted to select your provider, then you will need to set up your Exchange manually.

Step 2: Now, enter your email account password and hit Sign In/Next.

Note: You may find the sign in screen different as it depends on your email provider.
