Why Did My TikTok Account Get Banned?

Why did my TikTok account get banned

The main reason why TikTok started banning accounts is that TikTok was violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and for this TikTok paid $5.3 million as a settlement fee to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Earlier TikTok didn’t have any privacy policy regarding the age limit to create an account on TikTok. Anyone can create an account on TikTok and publish their content. After the settlement with FTC, TikTok staring banning all the users who are below the age of 13. As it is a good way to defend children’s online privacy, and all the users below 13 get their account banned, but there are also some users who are above 13 whose account got banned.

This happened because the users had not given the actual date of birth or couldn’t provide a Government Verified ID as proof of their age. Many users are legally eligible to use TikTok but they didn’t find the source to verify their age and due to this their TikTok account get banned.

Another reason behind banning the account is that the users are uploading unpleasant or vulgar content on TikTok. TikTok has provided guidelines on what type of contents users can publish. And if the user doesn’t follow the guideline that it is a high possibility that TikTok will permanently ban their account.

Some of the other reasons behind banning TikTok account are:

  • When you are bullying other users.
  • If you are promoting crime, terrorism, and other violent behavior.
  • When you are buying followers and likes.
  • If you are using hateful speech in your content.
  • TikTok suspecting you to be bot.
  • Using illegal substances in your contents.
  • Promoting discrimination, exclusion, or segregation against certain groups.
  • Using drugs, alcohol, or tobacco while making videos.

If this is the case with you then chances to unban your TikTok account have a lower possibility.

These are some of the reasons due to which your TikTok account can be banned.

So, now we will move to the solutions to unban TikTok account or recover a banned TikTok account.

Method 1: Provide A Proof Of Your Age

As I have said that your account can be banned if your age is below 13. If this is not your actual date of birth and you have entered incorrect age while setting up your TikTok account.

If this is the case with you then you can unban it by providing a government ID proof to verify your age. As TikTok has provided users to share their ID proof to verify the age. So, you can share the ID proof with the official customer support at TikTok.

Method 2: Contact TikTok Customer Support

Method 3: Use A VPN

Many countries banned TikTok in the last few months. If you belong to such a nation then you will not able to access TikTok. This is because your network administrator would have blocked the platform.

In this case, you will need to use professional VPN software. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) will hide your IP address and allow you to access your TikTok account. But it is very hard to select the correct VPN software.

There are many VPNs available for Android and iOS, but only some of them work. Therefore, it is very important to research before selecting a VPN tool.

When you will use VPN software to use TikTok, your feed will get different content according to the location that you choose. So, you will need to compromise this while using a VPN.

Method 4: Appeal By Emails

Another way to get your permanently banned TikTok account back is to email an appeal to TikTok. There are various emails addresses available online, among them the most effective is legal@tiktok.com.

Your account is usually banned due to infringement of guidelines, and the best way to deal with is to write to the legal department of TikTok.

If you wish to use another email address then you can use some email addresses – creators@tiktok.com, info@tiktok.com, privacy@tiktok.com, business-servicesupport@tiktok.com.

While appealing, remember that you are appealing to them to unban your account. Tell them in a respectful manner and show emotion to them. Also, tell them why you need that account and who much you have worked to reach your account to that position and about the memories attached to it.

It is not easy to get back the account. You need to make them notice your appeal from the pile of others. The review process is slow so, it will take a long time to recover the account. Therefore, keep sending emails every day.

Method 5: Use Feedback Form

You can also use the feedback form to unban your permanent TikTok account. To use this form, go to the Share your feedback form. This form is basically made to share the experience of the TikTok users with the TikTok app.

But, you can also use this form to report your account-banned problem.

Here, follow the steps to do so.

Step 1: Open the feedback form in the browser.

Step 2: Then enter your email address (the same email address that you have used while creating the TikTok account) and the TikTok username.

Step 3: Scroll down, and provide topic, sub-topic, and description of the appeal.

Step 4: Next, you need to go to the Topic dropdown box. Then choose Account ban/suspension option.

Step 5: After that, tap on Tell us more.

Step 6: Next, you will find 3 options, Banned account (it is related to age), Livestream, and Banned account (it is not related to age). Select one option that meets your problem.

Step 7: Now, you need to describe your issue with TikTok. In the “How can we help box?” tell about your issue and plead to remove the ban from your TikTok account.

Step 8: Once you have described your problem, you need to go to the bottom of the form. Here, you will find the Attachments option, using this you can upload 10 screenshots. You can attach the screenshot of the banned message and upload it here.

Step 9: If you have selected the Banned account (age-related) or Livestream option under the Tell us more section, then you need to upload your photos that hold the ID. It will be proof that you are above the age of 16.

Once you have submitted the feedback form, wait for a few days for the response.

Conclusion

I know how you will feel when your TikTok account got permanently banned. All your memorable videos and your hard work are total wastage and you will not let it be. Just go through the methods mentioned above and you will be able to unban your permanently banned TikTok account.

But, these solutions will only work if you have not violated any serious rules of TikTok and you fall upon the age which TikTok recommends.
